Intermediate Belly Dance takes four sessions to complete. Some of the moves are covered every session, but other moves are session specific. Some students choose to stay in Intermediate Belly Dance longer than four sessions.  Huraiva's recommendation is to advance to Advanced Belly Dance when a student has mastered at least 98% of all the moves covered in Intermediate Belly Dance (the moves which don't need to be mastered are belly rolls, tummy flutters and 3/4 shimmy on the down). You can download a checklist to help you gage your progress here. Huraiva covers a different prop each session of Intermediate Belly Dance as well, a different Middle Eastern Rhythm, moves often paired with the prop and or rhythm being covered and a variety of group improvisational combinations . Performance opportunities will be provided, but are never required.  For those students who wish to perform, the costume for intermediate belly dance students will depend on what numbers are being performed and will be discussed before the performance. The focus of Intermediate Belly Dance is figure 8 movements, but many other movements are taught as well.
