Finger Cymbal DVDs

Advanced Finger Cymbals with Ansuya – (Ansuya) How to play advanced finger cymbal patterns as well as methods to increase playing speed and help with finger cymbal improvisation. Covers 6/8, 9/8 and masmoudi. Purchase at IAMED.

Belly Dance with Zils (Elsa Leandros) - how to play various rhythms on the finger cymbals as well as combinations to dance with them. Covers beladi, saidi, maksoum, maasmoudi, chiftitelli and karsilama. Note, she does not necessarily play them the same way I teach them, but the methods she teaches work and make sense. Purchase at Amazon

Goddess Workout – Cymbals – (Dolphina) introduction to some of the rhythms played with zils. I’d only recommend getting this one if you have the others and just want more on finger cymbals. Dolphina’s method of playing finger cymbals is unique. Purchase at Amazon

Hahbi Ru Level Three - The Cymbal Dance - (John Compton) - instruction on some unusual finger cymbal patterns and a choreography using them

Learn Finger Cymbals with Ansuya – (Ansuya) covers four basic finger cymbal patterns, including threes, beledi, chiftitelli and bolero.Purchase at IAMED.

Killer Ziller (Michelle Joyce) – includes finger cymbal patterns and combinations to dance with them. Covers 3, quads, beledi, 337, 373, 355, 3513, 447, 474, 4514, chiftiteli, Malfouf and Karsilama. Purchase at Amazon.

The last two are NOT DVDs but CD which I recommend purchasing and not just getting the downloads, the CDs come with booklets that contain a bunch of additional information including the rhythms written out.

Cymbal Speak Volume 1.: Zill Speak - How to Play Finger Cymbals from A(lmee) to Z(ills) with Artemis Mourat - this includes techniques for Turkish finger cymbals (zils) and includes 14 different rhythms.

Cymbal Speak Volume 2: Sagat Speak - Egyptian Finger Cymbals with Yasmin covers Egyptian Sagat and I would only recomend this for the advanced dancer working on learning to play sagat in addition to zils.
